History of the library, which was organized in Mongolia

In 1921, the people’s revolution beat in Mongolian and organized independent country with freedom. So Mongolian had a possible to develop National culture. Since that, after 4months the first library’s base was put and started to serve the whole people. On September 9, 1921, people’s Government put out the decision of 24 meeting which about organize the library committee. Gradually, identified organization, goal and duty of this committee and set up officially the library committee. Near that committee, prince O.Jamiyan, typist Ch.Bat-Ochir, D. Dashnyam and scholar J.Tseveen were published their books, and established the first library with 2000 books.

In 1940, the library rules were promulgated in the leadership’s meeting of committee of sciences and its name changed into “The public library of state”. The numbers of readers were 129 people in 1922, but it became 1900 in 1941.
The book issue increased 14 times and library fund became from 2000 until 97’000 volumes. The first year, Government promulgated the budget of 4million 560 thousands tugrug into the annual budget. In 1951, present 3 floor building went into use and organized the books along the operation of library.
Then, service of library grew in extent.
